I bought this modem to help get through horrible phone lines made worse by the ongoing construction and HOW this modem performed best in a multiple device comparison has, I will never know. From the day I installed it it has been an ongoing disappointment. Even in 2002, whether online or not, XP modem drivers cause more problems than they solve. Even at the highest speeds I can connect at, I usually just get "can't find server" screens due to transfer latency, despite Zoom's much-vaunted speed boost from USB. 33600 is somehow slower than 2400 and there's just no excuse for that. The difficulties with XP are secondary to its obnoxious tech support whose only advice is to always "reboot your computer" who is by far one of the rudest tech support guys. ever encountered. The whole experience with him was a lot more trouble than good. I recommend avoiding this product as if your life depended on it. If Zoom is your only cure for connection issues, you'd be better off without the internet in your life.
