It's definitely thinner, but soft and comfortable to the touch. There are two pockets on the front to keep little hands warm. I really like the color combination of dark gray with light green lining and accents. I got this for a 7 year old and I think he will love it. It probably won't keep him warm, but if it's really cold outside it's thin enough to wear another jacket over it. At around $15 this is good value for money.
