Review on Canon PowerShot A480 camera, black by Virot Reangtong ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everything in the product suited me, the price is generally perfect.

In fact, despite the "nasty things" written in the shortcomings, this machine "draws" well on its 10 megapixels, making it possible for the "cheap" to have a full-fledged - not in functions, but as pictures - digital camera, which also has impeccable automation. And which will shoot, shoot and shoot again, unlike the same phone, which will instantly run out of the remaining half of the charge. We have been using it for more than 5 years, looking askance at the DSLRs. Like, yes, they shoot more seriously and much more, but why is it for an ordinary man in the street. The only sad moment is that this worthy fotik is out of production. A sort of flip side of modern marketing with a frantic pace of changing models one after another . Of course, it is replaced by a soap dish with the next model number and a sensor with unnecessary 16-20 megapixels, but what's the point?

Pros
  • The price was low at the time, while it can be said that it did not affect the quality of the photos in any way. Even the lack of availability of wholesale. You only notice the stabilizer by blinking the red icon in medium and low light conditions. Video is also normal, however, its high bitrate and quality (as well as minutes of recording, measured immediately in gigabytes :)) is perhaps a common feature of Canon devices. The design here is sometimes scolded in vain, despite a certain childishness, it is still harmoniously laconic, in general, neat. Yes, and a variety of body colors at one time is a plus, you can give a white lady a gift, a black man, and blue and red for the rest. The same PowerShot A590 - that's where the horror-horror in comparison with, everything is round, as if from the 60s, but it shines beautifully. A decent implementation of the super macro mode. With proper skill, you can easily scan film. Or micro-patterns on banknotes. Compact and lightweight, that goes without saying. AA batteries, convenient when traveling, the charge ran out, you get the same ones from a flashlight or buy in a passing selmag and take a picture further. Unlike earlier Canon digital cameras, there is no problem of instant exhaustion and lack of voltage or battery power, everything is fine and for quite a long time, three hundred photos on a very average battery is a common thing. For those who want to tweak the manual settings without buying an advanced photo, it is possible to download the CHDK program. Bay on a flash drive, everything works.
Cons
  • All the shortcomings naturally stem from the low price niche: simple design, lack of all of these stabilizers, wheels, touch screens and other flash shoes. This is for devices of a completely different class and price. There is also a simple screen and a slow transfer to a computer via a USB cord, exactly 1MB / s, no more. While the pictures weigh ~ 3 MB. When looking at a full size pixel by pixel, each small detail is smeared within a square of 2 * 2 or 3 * 3 pixels, i. E. the real resolution differs from the nominal 10 megapixels from 2 to 9 times. But let's not forget that it belongs to the class of soap dishes that speaks for itself, this is not a SLR, where pixel by pixel is on a fixed lens. ISO noise is the same reasonable consequence of a matrix of a typical digital camera format 1/2.3, but I must say, not the smallest (for the same A590 it turns out to be even less - 1/2.5). As a result, even an inexpensive 5-megapixel smartphone on Android shoots exactly the same way in typical mediocre residential lighting in terms of noise and resolution . which even surprised me. Tablet is the same. So the current mobile phones are filmed at the level of digital cameras, this is a fact. We want better pictures than on a phone - you need to look to the side where advanced compacts, DSLRs and mirrorless cameras rule the roost . or don't bother.
