Died within 10 minutes

I don't know if I did something wrong but this case died the second time I connected the USB-C cable to it. The first time was sort of ready to go when I wanted to use Windows 10 Disk Management to initialize it. But I was skeptical about which drive I would initialize (didn't want to erase data) so I turned it off to see which drive would disappear from Disk Management. But the next time I plugged in a cable, the blue light came on but the computer didn't recognize the SSD in the enclosure…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Definitely hot but works well

Unfortunately when I ran this test on a 256GB Samsung PM981 I lost the Crystaldiskmark results but sequential read and write definitely hits the 10Gb/s -Mark on the USB 10 port Gbps It heats up under load after transferring some heavy files, but when used as a game drive for Battlestations Pacific there were no speed or temperature issues. Of course, it heats up, but not so much that it's uncomfortable to hold. I've seen similar designs that use this type of "aluminum tube" to have thermal pads

Works well for computer accessories and peripherals

It took me a while to figure out how to fit an NVMe drive into this thing. Unscrewing the lid is the main thing. But then the card has to be grabbed and pulled out – in a confined space. I didn't want to use metal to grip it because it was obviously a PCB material. I finally got it. Clicking on the NVMe drive card was fine, but they don't explain that you have to use that metal latch to hold the card in place while you screw it in. I tend to get into these things fairly quickly, but it took a…

Compared to some other m.2 NVMe cases

Summary: Using SEKC 256 GB m.2 NVMe with a max speed of 1700/1000 MB/s (read/write) to cover these cases to test. Observations: Chassis Sabrent is Thunderbolt 3, which has a higher maximum throughput than USB-C. UNITEK and MOKIN are USB-C 3.1 Gen 2. SEKC claims 1700/1000 MB/s (read/write). I tested the Sabrent on a 2019 Macbook Pro with Blackmagicdesign, 1400/1200 MB/s (read/write). UNITEK ran at 800/800 MB/s (read/write) via a USB-C 3.1 port. MOKIN had a problem with the included USB-C cable…

Small Heavy Duty Quick Assembly Kit

This is a great way to build your own high speed joystick. and connects and works as expected. Not many instructions, but if you've ever installed nvme or done anything that makes you think you should take it, you'll be fine. The hardest part was getting the board out of the case so I could add nvme (fat fingers but my girlfriend doesn't have this problem and I was able to help easily). With this (device) the limitation would be like this (device) , tested with Samsung 980 nvme (gen4) which…

Great way to repurpose an old SSD.

I recently upgraded the SSD in my laptop but didn't know what to do with the old NVMe stick as nothing else I had could use it. Then I discovered this. Very easy to install, spare screws and screwdriver included. Rugged metal body that withstands multiple accidental drops from your pocket. Not as fast as a direct connection, but that's to be expected. has a USB-C to USB-A connector for compatibility with older hardware, but that's no big deal. Another small issue I noticed is the passive…
