A few issues with it: UPDATE

UPDATE: My comments below still stand BUT I LOVE THIS PLAYER. I was surprised to see that I have been using it for 5 years. I even found a new feature that many other players don't have: I have a bunch of old CDs. I bought a large box in 2010. Have almost never used them. But I can download old public domain movies like Screaming Skull and burn them to CD and Sony will read the disc, identify the MP4 file and play it. ------------ -------------------------------------- -------------- I bought this to replace the DVD side of my 10 year old Goldstar DVD/VCR. Goldstar was unable to read a number of discs with minor errors, and some of the newer discs had minor gaps, which could mean more MPEG compression than the old Goldstar processor could handle. Sure Sony can handle it. And she does! On an intentionally defective disc, he couldn't read the worst part, but he read a lot more. It was nice to add Blu-Ray because I go to trash cans and thrift stores and will soon find Blu-Ray discs there. It's so small that it's easy to find a place even if an old DVD/VCR keeps its place. in my entertainment center. However. Old Goldstar had a quirk. Sometimes I watch dialogues with English subtitles. Then I switch between the others โ€“ mostly French and Spanish โ€“ and leave. I did this recently and in the next scene there was a "Katie's Birthday" logo. Among them was El Compleรฑo de Caty. Every time something like a character appears on the screen, subtitles should also appear in the last language in the list. Of course, Sony would not have made such a mistake. Ha, he has the same error with subtitles! There's no excuse for the remote being so tiny; the size of a pack of cigarettes. I have a hard time finding the button and barely hitting it with my fingernail. I also sometimes press the button next to it which leads to unwanted consequences. The remote's black color is justified - everyone does it, it's the industry standard. A bright splash of color on the side makes the remote easier to spot. I put reflective red and white tape on it so I gave it 4 stars.
