Review on Acer CB282K Smiiprx FreeSync Adjustable 4K Monitor with Height Adjustment and 3840X2160 Resolution by Cornelius Marshall

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works, but there are many unnecessary problems

Pros:* Good consistency and no dead pixels.* High resolution and large storage capacity* Height-adjustable stand* Wide colors* Refresh rate exceeds 80 Hz, although only advertised as 60. Cons:* Fragile construction. The buttons on the back feel like they could flex slightly, and it creaks and pops a lot as it warms up and cools down. * The menu color mode system is confusing and buggy: you can't even easily change the brightness or some other settings. In some modes for example: if you change them it goes back to normal mode and then every time you have to dive into the menu and save in the mode you want to make it work. The sRGB mode, which claims to be calibrated, is particularly useless as it defaults to a 'warm' color temperature (notably violating the sRGB standard) and trying to change and maintain the color temperature results in that that he says it's a new take. although it's the same. Expect not to use this at all, and you'll need OS color profiles if you don't want things to get oversaturated. already exists. If you're using a custom refresh rate it's even worse, lasting over half a minute (tried at both reduced and overclocked refresh rates and with and without automatic input switching enabled) so it's literally faster to toggle them off and on than mouse to move them and wait.* The screen surface is not glossy or matte, but something in between. It doesn't eliminate specular reflections, instead blurring them slightly and adding a large halo around them. It's called "anti-glare," but compared to the glossy screen and the really matte screen next to it, I'd say it actually boosts glare.* It produces a slight low-frequency hum. You might not even notice it in a room with other noises, but it's there and noticeable, especially in a system running without a fan. It sounds like mains frequency hum and probably is, since changing the refresh rate or changing other settings doesn't affect it. It's not coming from speakers that hiss unless the volume is set to 0. Nothing I have tried has been able to prevent this. I ended up sending it back mainly because of the noise. Getting a perfectly working panel back is a bit disappointing and I'd probably work on other cons, but if I could get a refund these issues wouldn't be something I want to use for long.
