Review on 32" Monitor ASUS ROG Swift PG329Q, 2560x1440, 175Hz, IPS, black by Kiril Velchev ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A normal product, but they wanted more for the money.

I have been using the monitor since December 23, the impressions are generally positive, but there is something to complain about, the most annoying thing is the drop in brightness when HDR is on, there are fears that they will not be able to fix it programmatically . Knowing the above, I would not be in a hurry to buy, I would wait for reviews and comparisons with the nearest competitor, which does not have most of the above disadvantages, and it is not much more expensive now. Last night I found a red pixel visible on any background except white. I didn’t see it right away, most likely due to the fact that dynamic dimming was turned on, with this mode the pixel on a black background is not visible (be sure to turn off dynamic dimming when checking), that is, a broken (well, or stuck) pixel could be present immediately . Turning off for 12 hours or a software way to get rid of it did not help. The monitor falls under the Asus Zero Bright Dot program, during the warranty period, only one bright pixel (visible on a black background) or 5 dark ones (visible on a white background) is enough for the monitor to be replaced. Today I handed it over to the ASC, they immediately upset it, saying that Asus does not issue monitors for replacement, only a matrix can be sent if the case is recognized as really warranty, and that the monitor is rare, most likely they will issue an act of non-repairability. The repair status has changed to "Spare parts ordered for your equipment", I'm waiting. It is a pity that I did not think to take a picture of the matrix in order to compare the light.

Pros
  • - Bright juicy picture; - Speed matrix; - Convenient management.
Cons
  • - In HDR mode (movies, games, desktop) sometimes there is a drop in brightness (dynamic dimming is disabled), including with a static image, the feeling that the mode is turned off in the monitor itself. Switching the HDR mode in the monitor settings helps, I did not reveal a pattern. This problem is also discussed in Western forums, they hope that the new firmware (current v028) will fix the work, but we are not sure. - Dynamic dimming does more harm than good. The brightness jumps and this is noticeable when working or in games, for example, in one game, under certain conditions, the effect of constant flashing (increase and decrease in brightness) or on the desktop (the taskbar on the left, the background is black, on the desktop 1 directory next to the start), when you move the cursor approximately from the center of the monitor to the right edge, it is barely noticeable at the beginning, and then becomes normal. Disabled. - A total of 16 dimming zones, so when viewing HDR content, you can not expect special miracles, but overall it's still great. - When the monitor is in sleep mode, the backlight stays on, illuminating the room at night. - sRGB/HDR modes are almost impossible to adjust, for example, when sRGB is enabled, changing "brightness" and other parameters is blocked, and blocking to some extent seems even logical, but the brightness is very high, in the dark, the eyes from this mode start to hurt. - Poor height and tilt adjustment, and a rotation angle of only 25°. - DisplayPort version 1.2, which means you have to choose between a high refresh rate and 10 bits. - There are no speakers, in general, of course, a trifle, but it adds a touch to the overall picture. - Warranty service is far from standard, in case of a problem you yourself will have to take the monitor to the ASC, a replacement will not be sent to you by courier.
