This pump was purchased just-in-case one to my cat's fountains fails since this one also includes a light which helps show the water level. It's as quiet as the one in the 2.4 L/81 oz Comsmart fountain and in the Beacon pet fountain holding the same volume. It also has the 4 suction feet to hold it stably on the bottom.Just as with the original pumps a very small screw driver helps to loosen the front cover for cleaning, and when used carefully will help break the feet's suction on the bottom.Combined w/giving my 18 yr old cat a new food every day, the addition of a water fountain has halted my drinking water-loving cat's weight loss. And—no matter how much was in his water bowl, since cats really do prefer drinking from running water, as soon as we switched to the fountain he stopped hanging out at the faucets in our home.NOTE to the manufacturers—cleaning the pump would be much faster (and contribute to user-compliance) if it weren't necessary to snake nearly the entire length of the pump's cable up & through the side of the tank to take it to a water source. Being able to disconnect & reconnect so quickly would certainly aid in keeping the fountain itself clean also.
