I use thread for embroidery, overlocking and sewing - small and large spools. This stand is for everyone! The spool holders are big enough for my largest spools and the rows are wide enough so you can use different sizes on the same stand without running out of space. I have so many threads that I will order more. I just wanted to test one out first to make sure it would work for my inventory. I also love that I can use it as a stand or hang it on the wall - very versatile - and easy to assemble. They provide extra nuts and bolts in case you drop them - I did, for which I was very grateful. For a stand you will need at least 13 inches deep and about 18-19 inches wide. The height depends on what you put on the top shelf, but it's about 17 inches for my large coils. The stand is white plastic but seems strong enough to support the weight of the full spools on each spindle.
