I needed a cable modem after TimeWarner increased my rent for the second time in a year. I bought it refurbished for less than $18 to my door. I was a little worried because this one uses older technology than the new ones, but that only matters at speeds over 20Mbps. I have 15Mbps in and 1Mbps in and my speed tests are actually oh so much faster. Cable modems are hardware that pretty much sits on tables or shelves and people forget about them. This makes refurbs even more attractive. I actually thought mine was new before I took the plastic off and actually had it again. Just a few trinkets here and there. Final thought: If you are a TWC user, set this up during business hours. I tried the late shift and a 10 minute call turned into an hour of frustration. If you have to work, plug it in, write down the HFC (not USB) MAC number and call during the day. The first guy I spoke to got me done in less than 5 and got a call back after checking.
