Review on Heininger Hitchmate TireStep 4040, Black – 1 Pack by Kham Fisk

Nowadays it is not surprising when a product fails or exceeds expectations. This step just blew my mind! This step is perfect for my 265-60X18 tires, I didn't have to make any adjustments at all. It is adjustable for both step height and tire tread width. I used it at max step height to install roof rack cross members, it was rock solid. I was able to use my stepladder, actually the plan was to do the first side with that step just to try and use the ladder on the other side. I used this step for all work as it is a very reliable platform. Enough Rave to use and customize. The step height is adjusted by removing the 2 wing nuts and bolts (no tools required) and moving the step up or down to the next hole and then reinstalling the bolt and wing nuts. Tire tread width adjustment is accomplished by depressing two spring-loaded pins and moving the crossbar in or out to match the tire. The tread width is about 10 inches and the center hole fits perfectly. (I think 12.5 max. A rim size of 20" is also correct. With my 18" wheels, the vertical footrests are at the bottom of the tire. This is important in order not to scratch the rim. The rims (the vertical bars on them the step - platform on the outside of the tire) when standing on the step. The 20" wheels will be side by side. I attached the 2" sections of body side molding to the inside edge of the vertical bars (where the bar meets the tire on the outside of the rim at the bottom of the bar) just to make sure I wouldn't gouge the rim if the step wasn't centered.
