Review on MICHELIN X-Ice North 4 205/55 R16 94T winter by Riko Mizuseki ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best thing for the money, Im glad I chose this option.

Dimension 185/65/15. Renault Logan car, luxury privilege, mechanics, without directional stability system, k4m engine. I am one hundred percent satisfied with the rubber, it is suitable for city roads, especially where roads are poorly cleaned, suitable for those who drive and break the speed limit of 500 equivalent. She helped me out in uncleaned city yards, this winter the public utilities got it very well, but with this rubber there were no complaints against them, but on the contrary it was nice to get a kind of training ground, where it successfully passed cross-country tests, once saved on the highway, in the snow they blinded me strongly with xenon, and I drove into the junction, instead of a branch of the road at 90 km / h, there was a difference in coverage of about 15 cm of dense snow, while the speed dropped sharply, but I stayed on the road, I didn’t go into the separation much, I didn’t even slow down, without releasing the gas, he pulled out onto a straight path and smoothly entered the normal road. From the nuances: it keeps well on asphalt, with dynamic driving there is a feeling that a reinforcing metal grid is put on the tread, if you take into account the number of spikes and drive on asphalt without sudden starts, braking and lane changes, it will be quite comfortable, there will be no feeling of reinforced tread and the control will be similar to rough summer tires, but if you allow yourself to maneuver briskly, you will be very sorry for the spikes. When it was snowy, I drove with a pressure of 2.0 atm, when it melted and asphalt appeared in the advantage, I pumped 2.4. Conclusion: They did a good job with the tire, given that the herringbone tread gives traction and braking advantages, and its maneuverability (side grip) is worse than that of tires with a central V-shaped tire, the developers blocked the central part of the tread, made the slopes of the central rib so that the porridge was removed and prevented drift, spaced spikes over the tread area, again, a compromise for better maneuverability. In my opinion, the product came out good, the tire turned out, the price is worthy of the quality.

Pros
  • Traction properties: - Good longitudinal traction on rolled snow, snow-covered surfaces, on a muddy spring road; - when passing long bends and ring roads at speeds up to 60 km / h and with smooth acceleration, confident grip and directional stability *. Deep Snow: - passes with a bang, pulls confidently does not give up, as you go on a tank. Track: - Confidently keeps in a snow rut, allows you to smoothly get out of it when driving at speeds up to 40 km / h, I haven’t tried it higher and it’s better not to try to do this, on any rubber - in an asphalt rut on the track it keeps just as confidently up to 110 km / h and did not reveal any shortcomings. Asphalt handling: - On the frozen asphalt keeps well. Spring and autumn heated asphalt: - it keeps confidently on the spring, the rolling resistance is very noticeable, when the gas is released, the car noticeably loses speed, respectively, the load that wears the tread increases - in autumn everything is the same, only in percent it is 10 less, because in spring the asphalt snarls more when heated by the sun. Energy intensity: absorbs shocks and transmission of ripples to the steering wheel from pits and combs, within reasonable limits, of course, there are no miracles in the world, it's just noticeably noticeable. spikes: For 10 t. Km. I haven't lost a single one, I'm tired of looking. Noise: It is practically not felt, for such a number of spikes - perfect acoustic comfort, you can hear when the window is open and the sound is comparable to the crunch of millet groats under the soles of boots on the marble floor in the room. Blend quality: Tires do not harden at low temperatures, from -15 to -40 they only begin their life, performance improves, especially noticeable when driving on asphalt, elasticity is maintained and rolling resistance is much lower, temperatures below -40 did not meet this winter. Strength: - impact resistance is high; - wear resistance, very resistant to abrasion. Balancing: - perfectly balanced, only 20 grams on one wheel and this is the heaviest weight from the set.
Cons
  • Flaws: - Notable rolling resistance, but this is a price to pay for the quality of the rubber compound and the number of spikes (again compared to BF Goodrich). *- I will make a reservation in advance that I tried this attraction on an empty, rarely used road, i. E. it provoked a situation, but there are echoes of it in the daily driving mode, in general - lateral drift: when cornering, not in normal mode, but rather sharp, as if turning missed or sharp acceleration on a long turn (for example, on the ring got inflated), the car breaks down, starts in the range between 60-70 km / h, moreover, unexpectedly, the advantages of this brand of rubber become its disadvantages, i. E. when entering the turn, the front wheels, those experiencing the maximum load extinguish the inertia (taban) the front of the car, I believe, due to the spikes and the tread tree, and the centrifugal force begins to turn the stern, when you try to regain balance, you get a pendulum and loss of control, but everything is regulated by sharp braking, and if you do not return the balance and succumbing to the centrifuge, to prevent the demolition of the stern, then about a meter and a half along the oncoming lane or the side of the road, depending on the side we turn, you will pass (I'm afraid this will manifest itself when driving around at high speed a sharply appeared obstacle on the road, with ice, sludge on asphalt, in snow-covered areas and powdered snow run-up). All with flaws.

Some pros: Quiet, comfortable tires, frozen asphalt and rolled snow keeps excellent Got cons: About 10 spikes flew out on one front wheel, deep snow digs poorly, soft sidewall in corners lacks clarity

With its pros. Good tires. Rescued in this snowy winter more than once. With its cons. a large number of spikes makes itself felt. noisy

Now the mileage on the bears is 4000 km. There is no noise from the spikes at all. Silence .
