In my opinion this is one of the best pressure switches you can or should install to protect your pump, especially if you have a water well. A good quality water pump can be expensive (I've paid over $400 for it) and can easily fail if the water level in your well is low or if the pipe has a leak. I know how it happened to me some time ago. What sets this pressure switch apart from most is that it includes an auto shut off feature that can protect your pump when the water pressure falls below 20psi. about 40psi and turns it off (shutdown) when the pressure reaches about 60psi. But it can be adjusted to any position in between while maintaining a 20psi differential pressure...that is, unless you adjust the short adjusting nut on the pressure switch. switch to adjust the air pressure in the tank or vice versa. Of course you should follow the manufacturer's recommendations, but typically the air pressure in an empty tank should be 2 PSI below the pressure switch threshold. For example, since the cut-in pressure of this switch is 40psi, the air pressure in the water tank chamber should be set at 38psi. However, be sure to follow the manufacturer's recommendations or seek professional installation. I recommend this pressure switch though...it has worked very well for me.
