Review on ✨ LG 24MP88HV-S Infinity 24" Monitor with Full HD 1080P Resolution by Thomas Kharlamov

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Red glow covers 80% of the screen after 10-18 hours of dual device use.

I wish I would like this monitor, but unfortunately both devices (original and replacement) show the same type of screen defect after only 6 hours of use, and the symptoms of such a defect increase with time of use. I contacted LG technical support. and they said it was a burn in error and instructed me to return it to the seller (revain) or send it in for repair. I've found that it's not my hardware (either graphics card, HDMI cable, or a combination of both) that's causing this type of problem. I tested with a 4 year old HP IPS LED monitor that I was planning to replace and with an HP IPS LED monitor that I borrowed from a friend. In the test I used the same connection and the same HDMI cable as well as the same service life for all monitors (HP, Dell and two LG 24MP88HV-S). Only LG 24MP88HV-S shows red glow/burn-in. I read another review and other users don't seem to have had any issues even after 4 months or more of use. Maybe I was just unlucky to receive two defective units per roll, or there is something wrong in the production process with this batch. Even an LG tech support rep looked at the issue and said it was weird. Only televisions have burn-in, but monitors rarely burn in. Either way, I need to return it and get a Dell or HP monitor. It's a shame LG makes great products and I don't have a decent one. I have many LG products and none of them have broken or worked for years. I guess I just won the "Lotto" this time.

Pros
  • Great monitor, the stand wobbles.
Cons
  • Dead Pixels: These are defective pixels that remain black or glow solid on the display.
