A marvel of miniaturization, this compact device is designed to convert cassettes to MP3 files. After spending many hours learning how to use it, my own experience is that miniaturization has become overused to the point where it has become difficult to use. My biggest concern is handling the cartridges themselves. It's difficult to tell the direction of the tape because the tape changes direction in different ways. A couple of times I accidentally pressed a button that reversed the playback direction, which was difficult to fix. Also, the tape speed fluctuated wildly, distorting the voices and making the music almost impossible to hear. get stuck in the transport mechanism and nearly destroy the tape itself. If you need to convert cassette tapes to MP3 files and need high fidelity, this might not be the best choice. There are services that perform such transports on larger and more stable devices. If fidelity is not critical, the device works quite well. One final caveat: there are several control buttons on the front of the device that control playback, recording, and other functions. It is almost impossible to read the characters on these keys. I put a dab of white nail polish on the REGISTER button so I can find it easily.
