Review on Venhill VWK002 BK Universal Motorcycle Clutch by Brian Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If you need large custom brake and clutch cables, you've come to the right place!

Love this kit! Why? Here's the backstory: The kids and I bought some cards from CraigsList hoping we could fix them up so they could have fun in the garden and I could teach them the values and DIY skills. vehicles and be resourceful. We needed brake and throttle cables, and all we could find at local stores were cheap all-metal lawnmower versions. I've searched all over Revain only to find a selection of pre-made emergency brake cables for cars and trucks, all of which had to be modified to work in our application. I thought I was unlucky until I found this setup as well as the Venhill VWK003-BK Universal Motorcycle Shop Throttle Cable Kit. We bought both and they were great! If you buy them, make sure you have the tools to assemble them! You will need: 1) A soldering iron - the ends are VERY well done and slide right over the ends of the wires but they do need to be soldered so make sure you have a good hot iron and solder (the solder I used was a tube of Kester Pocket Pack Solder 60/40 .031 .50oz and it worked great for me) 2) You will need a hacksaw - be careful when cutting the pipeline, you don't want to smash it with wire cutters! 3) Belt sander, sander, or sandpaper - after you cut the tube, sand the edge smooth and burr-free. I have a belt sander and I've tapered the edges to allow the tips to slide easily. After that everything is ready! We made 2 kart brake cables, both disc brakes and they hold up well. We also made throttle cables for three karts and they are all smooth and feel like they will give us a long life!

Pros
  • Teflon inner liner for smooth running and maintenance free
Cons
  • Expensive
