Review on NexiGo NG17FGQ-2 Portable FreeSync Compatible Speakers - IPS with HDMI by Michael Schmidt

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I had to use HDMI. Great support!

I bought this monitor as a second monitor for my desktop system. I mainly use it to have a second monitor in my DAW Studio One. The product is cool and comes in a nice box. The instructions are not very good and are aimed at laptop users. I was trying to use USB-C ports on my ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E based system. It doesn't seem to be working. I then used a DisplayPort to HDMI cable and the USB power connector in the monitor is connected to a USB power adapter. It worked fine. So I went with you. Displayport causes Windows to treat the 17 inch monitor as the primary monitor and the other (32 inch monitor) connected to the motherboard HDMI port as monitor number 2. However, this is not a problem. The menu bar is still at the bottom of a regular large monitor. One thing I don't like is that the HDMI port on the monitor is placed very low on the side of the unit. The HDMI cable sticks out very far, which increases the monitor's footprint on the left by two to three inches. I ordered an elbow shaped HDMI extender. In addition, the HDMI cable connected to the monitor's connector becomes very hot, which indicates a shortened life expectancy. If you're recording audio, something like this would be a very good addition. Nice to have a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Update: I have a problem with the device, possibly caused by me (disconnected HDMI cable?). I called NexiGo and the support team answered the call without delay! It's almost unknown. I am really impressed. She was also easy to understand and gave good advice. She also advised not to worry about the heat from the HDMI port. Indeed, this is a five star product which is why I have increased the rating from four to five.
