Review on Unleash Your Running Potential with the Garmin Forerunner 235 GPS Running Watch by Aditya ᠌

Impressions from the purchase are good, buy.

This is my first running watch. Before that, I ran either just with a phone or with a Xiaomi bracelet. The bracelet is of no use if there is no phone with GPS nearby. And besides, you can’t connect a chest heart rate monitor to it, which is why it’s inconvenient to run in winter: if you want a pulse reading, you can’t put it on over a jacket. And the heart rate monitor itself left much to be desired. Plus, there was also a problem with his sensory: sometimes the watch under the jacket for some reason stopped training. In general, I decided to still take a normal running watch. The first thing that surprised me was the prices for running watches: they are just some kind of space ones, so I didn’t even consider new ones, I looked at used ones. The choice fell on the Garmin Forerunner 235. Although it was possible to take another 920XT for about the same money, they are richer in functionality in general, but they do not have their own heart rate monitor (not all the time with a chest strap to run), and in general they are very old. In general, I can say that I am very pleased with the watch. GPS works well, satellites are located almost instantly. The readings of the built-in heart rate monitor do not differ much from the chest. But, here, it happens that it sticks, it is treated by rebooting the clock. Struck by the function of running indoors. The first time, of course, they gave out garbage, but after several runs on the street, they became much more accurate. They counted the distance to me very accurately when I was running slowly: the next 200 meters were given out right along the line of the 200-meter circle. When I accelerate, however, they start to lie, but still not bad. I also like the interval training feature. You can adjust the distance or time, the number of repetitions, warm-up, hitch. The only thing that cannot be set is approaches. Those. if there is a workout, for example, we run fast for 1 minute - 2 minutes slowly, so 3 times, and there are 3 sets after 2 minutes of rest (i. E. 9 fast laps in total), then you will have to record each set again and it will be like 3 separate training, which is not very convenient. Another surprise was the lack of a stopwatch and timer. That’s what I didn’t expect, I didn’t expect it from a running watch.

Pros
  • Convenient to run without a phone Highly accurate built-in heart rate monitor You can connect a chest heart rate monitor, incl. someone else's, not Garmin's (I have a Polar H10) If there is a chest heart rate monitor, then you can safely put it on over your sleeve and see all the indicators There is an indoor running mode that works quite well Interval mode
Cons
  • The heart rate monitor sticks (both the problem and the solution have already been described), in addition, it often magically shows the pulse when the watch is on the table Sets cannot be set in intervals (reps are allowed, but sets are not allowed) No stopwatch! There is no step length graph (we are talking about Garmin Connect), only the average length (Xiaomi bracelet for one and a half thousand paired with MiFit shows a graph, but this expensive watch does not)
