Review on 🐠 Capetsma Fish Breeding Box: Premium Acrylic Isolation with Suction Cups for Baby Fish, Shrimp, Clownfish, and Guppy – Ideal Aquarium Acclimation Hatchery Incubator by Barbara Freeman

Really a decent size!

I bought this for guppy brood that were getting too big for the petite little parent box I already had but not yet big enough to move into a 6 gallon tank that I created to to build a tank. (If you put them in too big a tank too soon, I've found that they'll expend a lot of their energy growing, foraging, exploring, etc.). This box gave them twice as much space as the old one, if not more. Very easy to clean. As with most similar boxes with slits on the sides, I don't think they provide enough water flow. For this reason I half lift it out of the water once a day to make sure no toxins are building up in the tank and drain some of the leftover food and excrement. The kids were a bit embarrassed at first but didn't seem to mind. (They're only a few weeks old - at this point they just think it's okay if half your water goes away for a moment. What do they know? lol.). I also put a clump of java moss and some chickweed in there, so probably two-thirds of that was basically jungle on their scale. I highly recommend planting lots of plants, even if you use fake ones, otherwise a bare empty container will stress little ones out. Finally, I put a snail made out of sheep's horns in the bin to make cleaning easier - like a robotic vacuum under a high chair, haha. Babies felt great in this box until about three weeks old. They are now in their breeding tank and doing well. I haven't tried separating the mother from the babies yet. The next woman to go into labor can try the new maternity ward. But I wouldn't even try it in less than that because putting them in tiny containers is very stressful for them. This one with lots of plants is big enough to be worth trying. I'll update this review after seeing how it goes. But as a kid, this is a great little box.
