Review on Lavalier Microphone Y Splitter Cable - TRRS Audio Signal Splitter For 2 Mics - PowerDeWise Mic And Mic Connector by Ronald Duguay

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The cabling seems like its built with quality but it doesn't work for 2 mics and a TASCAM Recorder

I tried every variation to get this to work because I want to do interviews w/ two people speaking w/ BOYA lavalier mics and a single input TASCAM DR-05. One mic w/ power on. no problem into the TASCAM. one mic w/ power into this adapter no audio, with power off I have audio. I added the recommended TRSS to TRS adapter (bought separately on an email suggestion of theirs and I can't get the mics to operate powered and unpowered they have very weak output. I suspect this would work just fine for a phone. maybe even to the DSLR direct but I'm going to a TASMCAM record then into my camera. The TASCAM w/ a single powered mic sounds beautiful as it always has. I verified nothing went bad w/ all the adapter configurations I tried. What does work. with the other second adapter both mics will work if they're unpowered in "smart phone" mode. Which, I guess I can use in a pinch but I I don't care for particularly. The audio isn't nearly as nice and at that point I might as well just use the tascam built in mic or the shotgun.I rated this three stars because I can't use this for my application. I will say the vendor did contact me before I even received these and replied when I mentioned I felt a little bummed out about not knowing I'd need the adapter. They seemed concerned and I suspect if I cared enough they'd take the cable back. I'm not ambitious enough to send back an 11$ cable I might be able to use on something some day.

Pros
  • i really liked to use both mic in the same iphone. great
Cons
  • Worked good for a while (a month) then the male end became loose. Sounded VERY staticky.
