I set together a machine with an AMD FX-8350 processor and an ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 motherboard specifically for testing purposes (overclocking, etc.). With my third PC, which has an Intel Core i7-3770K processor, I started making comparisons. I began testing with games (Crisis 3, Mafia 2, GTA IV, and whatever else was available) and software (Sony Vegas Pro 11, 3D Max 12, 3DMark 11, and a few more I won't list) and found no discernible performance difference between AMD and Intel, but both had their advantages and disadvantages. I thought it was a good value for the money. With a boxed cooler sitting at 42 degrees, heat is dissipated poorly. In open space, where temperatures typically hover between 29 and 31 degrees, I opted to purchase a zalman cnps9500a cooler. Temps of 48-50 degrees with a full load. Also, the Intel Core i7-3770K and the AMD FX-8350 were equally fast to me. Percent is acceptable for the budget. So, if you're wealthy or just a huge Intel supporter, you're in luck. the Intel Core i7-4960X Extreme Edition is the processor for you.
