Review on Elite Screens VMAX2 100-inch Electric Motorized HD Projector Screen - Ultimate Home Cinema Experience! by Keith Morris

Engine starts spontaneously

I bought one of these (VMAX2, 100" 16:9) used at a big discount because there was no way I would pay full price for that screen when it was off - brand competitors have much lower prices. The motor is slow but not obtrusively loud. This model has multiple control methods including plug-in wired remote control,IR remote control,RF remote control and more advanced methods I have not tried. One of the advantages of this VMAX2 is that fiberglass is built in to keep the screen flatter when pulled out.But I have to say I can't tell it apart from my 15 year old very basic Elite Screen manual drop down screen in the next room.It doesn't seem flatter, whiter or to be really better to justify the much higher price The motor/controller of this screen s seems to have no memory or a way to set a breakpoint, so it can be difficult to stop. Screen at the correct height to match the projected image. I was a little disappointed with this but I think this is the norm for motorized projection screens. Unfortunately, after about a week, I touched the wired remote and sent a significant amount of static electricity through it and through the control board it was connected to. I had to disconnect and reconnect the entire screen to make it respond to input again. That night the canvas spontaneously began to unroll. And again the next evening. And again the next evening. Not even at very regular intervals, so I don't know why. Maybe it was interference, or maybe static shock had damaged the interior. Due to problems replacing it when it was already mounted, I decided to fix this problem. I plugged the power cord into a cheap remote control outlet and turned off the power completely when the screen was in the desired position. Now I have to use two remotes to control the screen, but that's not a big problem.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
