Review on DJI Pocket 2 Gimbal Camera by En En Shiu ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's not a bad product, nothing extraordinary.

Finally I was able to sell this camera, now it's time to write a review about this device. So, at the time of buying this camera, I had a GoPro 6 and a Sony A7 mirrorless camera. I bought myself as a gift for the DR, I wanted a 4k camera, and even with image stabilization. After watching cinematic videos on YouTube, I went to the official in Bangkok and bought this miracle. After a month of using it on vacation, I didn’t understand its essence, but it shoots well, yes there is stabilization, but it tries to shoot something even in RAW, but I couldn’t understand at all for what final purposes it was created. It is not protected from water, there is no bluetooth or wi-fi connection, the underwater case announced by the company never saw the light of day, daytime RAW shots from my phone are no worse, nighttime noise levels are generally hell. Someone positions the camera as a device for bloggers, but the lens in the camera is not wide and when shooting yourself, the head turns out to be full screen. There are unnecessary functions, such as "tracking an object", it is especially incomprehensible in selfie mode (whom to follow, if so the face is full screen?). Conclusion: - for extreme filming there is an action camera; - for high-quality photos there are DSLRs / mirrorless ones; - for filming 4k there are again mirrorless cameras (Fuji, Sony, Panas and others); - for filming with stabilization, there are stabilizers from 5k. for phones and cameras. Why the DJI Osmo Pocket was created is a mystery. Why the necessary functions are not implemented in it is an even bigger mystery. And the most interesting thing is that having bought a camera, without even having time to move away from the store counter, it will lose 50% of its value already being "used".

Pros
  • 1. Good quality 4k with sufficient lighting 2. A very compact camera, the battery is also enough for a couple of hours of shooting. 3. Stabilization really works well
Cons
  • The biggest disadvantages, due to which the camera loses interest - the lack of many built-in functions, any accessories - are purchased separately. 1. There is no Wi-Fi or at least bluetooth in the camera. Wi-Fi can only be obtained by purchasing an additional stand for 3k. Those. access to the camera either through a memory card and a computer or through a physical phone connection. 2. The camera itself does not have any mounts, it is designed for handheld use only. Any fasteners are purchased separately. Fortunately, on the well-known Chinese site they are now in bulk. 3. The camera cannot be used as an action from the word at all, any small fall will be fatal for the camera. 4. Lack of any dust and moisture protection. Fell into the water - say goodbye immediately. And then a problem arises from DJI themselves - accessories, including an underwater box, were announced on the website before the release of the camera. Foreign forums have been indignant for more than half a year that DJI "threw" everyone and did not release this box. 5. The ability to shoot photos in RAW is nothing more than marketing. This is not RAW and there is nothing to squeeze out of it. 6. I didn't like the built-in digital profiles and working with white balance, I had to edit any video later in Final Cut.
