Review on Nikon SB-800 AF Speedlight for Nikon DSLRs - Old Version: Enhanced Flash Photography for your Camera by Ray Adair

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Yes, I turned off the overheat function, but only because I had to take 20-30+ shots before waiting 20 minutes.

I toasted my SB900. Yes, I disabled the overheat feature, but only because I had to take over 20-30 pictures before waiting 20 minutes for it to cool down. ha ha. The non-Nikon repair cost was $145 plus shipping with a 90 day guarantee. Or get an old used SB800 flash, which is a fully functional flash that's smaller, lighter, and has almost the same performance as a $200 900/910. (Think I got a good deal)? Yes, it is not a pipe dream! And to be perfectly honest, I prefer better handling on the 800. I never liked the steering wheel adjustment knob, especially when adjusting the power levels. The 800 lacks some of the bells and whistles of the newer units, but I've never used them anyway!

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly torn
