Review on Acer VG271 Display: 1080P, 144Hz, DisplayHDR400, Built-In Speakers & More by Matthew Delic

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fantastic monitor in my review.

This monitor meets my needs perfectly. I was looking for a good gaming monitor that wouldn't break the bank and this one fits the bill perfectly. Got mine when it was on sale so got great value. I have the 1080p version which is great for the games I play and great for video streaming too. 27 inches is a bit big for 1080p resolution, but great for productivity and just relaxing, watching movies and the like. I ran mine at a full 144Hz refresh rate, tweaked the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel a little, and got fantastic results. Running games at 60fps with a 144Hz refresh rate is so much smoother and more enjoyable that it's hard to describe until you experience it for yourself. Unfortunately, my PC only has one HDMI output, so I can't use Gsync for smooth frame rates, but even HDMI works. Good color accuracy and super, super bright. I often turn the brightness down to 0 at night, which is totally normal. I highly recommend setting the overdrive mode to "Extreme" for increased tension as this monitor is extremely accurate with almost no clipping or ghosting of any kind (I used the Blur Busters motion test to see how well it performs ). Incredibly clear when there is a lot of movement and action on screen. It has HDR capability, but to be honest it's pretty much useless at 1080p, especially considering how Windows handles HDR. If you play a lot of FPS or AAA action games and don't want to spend a lot of money on a 2K or 4K monitor, you can probably get the best performance without spending more than $1,000. Act!
