Most Disappointing Product of 2020.

And the award for Most Disappointing Product of 2020 also goes to *drum roll*, the portable document scanner and travel-friendly book scanner CZUR Aura XP with built-in battery . And kidding, the packaging and presentation of this product is one of the best I've seen. Everything is luxurious and attractive. The boxes are beautiful and easy to label. This product makes a great first impression, loved it. Nice. But that's when the fun stopped and never came back. At every point from here my experience has been negative. Here is the summary: - The briefing was insufficient. It doesn't even mention the main parts and how to assemble them. Parking light for example. Even after I figured out the build myself, it didn't work. The power button did nothing, nothing lit. The film protecting the surface from scratches was difficult to remove. There is a small tab to start with, but it fell off right away. I had to pick at the corners with my nails and scrape off all the plastic. This took some time and ironically scratched the product. The website with drivers and software was too basic. Not enough information to know what software to download. My product is only listed as "Aura" anywhere on the packaging and accompanying documentation. However, the website is forcing me to choose between Aura Series, Aura Pro, Aura X Pro, etc. There was no simple "aura". Poorly. And finally: Not a single computer I tried to test it on recognized the product. Windows 10, latest updates, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, different ports, tried different laptops. Nothing. Wasted hours trying to figure it out. - Troubleshooting video on official website was not playing, gave me error video message. - The software is weird anyway. It hails from Hong Kong and doesn't use the standard Windows 10 GUI API. Instead, it captures the entire screen. Full screen mode, which covers everything else, is the only mode this software runs in. I didn't like giving permissions to this software. It was also almost 600 MB, an exe file. On startup I see several Windows console windows appear and disappear. The attached instructions suggest disabling all antivirus programs and firewalls to allow the device to be detected. So I'm done with that. I will pack it up and dispose of it properly. Very disappointed. My advice is don't even think about it.
