This thing worked great! After trying almost everything to display my desktop on a Dell laptop through a projector, the image on the wall was at the same time trying to get to Fort Knox! I don't have the old style video port (blue color) on my laptop, only HDMI and Mini Display Port. I connected my laptop to a ViewSonic projector with an HDMI cable, and no matter what I did, I couldn't view the laptop's desktop on the wall and at the same time see the desktop/use the mouse on the laptop. . I could see the laptop desktop on the wall through the projector but the laptop screen was black. I tried disabling the display drivers one by one, i have 2 of them on this laptop, one is intel and the other is nVidia but nothing worked. I finally bought this Mini Displayport to VGA Video Adapter and as soon as I turned on the projector after connecting the cables to my laptop, BAM. The laptop desktop screen became black bars on both sides and once the projector warmed up, the laptop desktop appeared on the wall AT THE SAME TIME! YUP! My wife can now see AND use her laptop screen and mouse while displaying the image on the wall where her students are looking! my wife is happy She uses a laptop with a projector when she teaches. The screen on the laptop desktop was overgrown with black streaks on both sides and once the projector warmed up, the laptop desktop was displayed on the wall AT THE SAME TIME! YUP!
