This little Z-Wave Plus device is easy to set up with Vera. It's not loud enough to work as a primary home security siren. Some of them can successfully act as the only doorbell in the house. The main purpose of the devices is to signal alarms to the home automation system. I find it very useful for this purpose. But the ring selection seems to be from an electronic doorbell my grandma thought was funny 30 years ago. A dome using the sounds of a modern smartphone will make this device more attractive for use in a smart home. In addition to the siren, the best device has 1) various attractive short tones and - non-musical emergency tones. Apple did a lot of research and development when designing sounds for iOS, Dome just had to follow what the smartphone manufacturers had implemented. I would pay more for an externally powered device. This device uses CR123 batteries with a stated life of three years. This choice was probably made to reduce the size of the device. I would have preferred AA in a larger unit, especially without an external power supply.
