Description of 🔧 GM Genuine Parts 15-80521: Reliable Heating and AC Blower Motor Resistor

Restores blower speed control caused by a failed resistor. Some GM Genuine Parts may have formerly appeared as ACDelco GM Original Equipment (OE). GM Engineers design and validate OE parts specifically for your Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac vehicle. Original equipment parts are designed to work with your GM vehicle safety systems -- aftermarket replacement parts may not meet the same OE safety regulations, depending on the part type. GM regularly updates production and service part designs to integrate new materials and technologies.

Common Problem: Spare Parts

Fixed a non-working fan on a 2007 Chevy Colorado. I think this is a common problem along with cleaning ground contact points.

Quality Deviation: Fan

I'm only rating this item 4 stars because it only lasted a few months, but I don't know if it's due to a major problem with my air conditioner. I also think it can't be the item as the original part burned out in the same way.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Some bugs

GOOD MEET ME! on blower

I purchased this item to replace an original factory part on my 2006 Chevy Colorado. So far everything is working fine. But don't forget to get a wire harness for that fan motor resistor. You will need both parts to repair the air conditioner. Nice to see that fan settings 1 to 3 are working again.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Appearance

Excellent Product.: Replacement Parts

Owner of 04" GMC Canyon Cockpit, Z71 SLE. Two screws, remove and replace. JFYI, I recommend buying an ACDelco PT1231 wiring harness connector with a 4 pin leaded connector. If you examine the wiring harness carefully you will find that over time the wiring harness can cause the resistor assembly to fail or vice versa.

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Not Reliable

Not long. for spare parts

Exactly what I needed. Or NOT the first one I'd lasted a little over a year. The second didn't work at all. Got a replacement and it took maybe 2 hours. I checked the wiring and replaced part of the wiring harness that goes to the AC/Heater fan. I did a test with an ohmmeter, everything is fine. So finally I have to say shitty details!

Pros
  • Annual trial period
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Both parts work and fit perfectly. You will burn it if it is used.

GM cars! REPLACE CABLE - REPLACE CABLE - REPLACE CABLE! A defective original wiring harness has a connector that burns out, causing that part to fail. The harness (had one when I needed it) is also available from Revain. Both parts work and fit perfectly. You will burn it if the wiring harness is defective. See YouTube.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are defects

Seems to work on motors

I've never replaced one of these and it failed after about 15 seconds but that's probably because I didn't replace it with a new plug either. Both at the same time and everything works perfectly. I used it in Colorado in 2005. If you replace it, remove the glove box (3 - 10mm bolts and 2 valves). Use the 5.5mm jack on the two screws holding the resistor plug. Installing a mirror on a floorboard will save you hours of fiddling with it. UPDATE October 29, 2013 Still working great. Much better…

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • Almost never

Reset the resistance and never use 3rd speed again.

I can only give three stars due to the poor design of this product. GM engineers know it's bad design, and yet they don't care just to save money. 3rd gear is always OFF. BTW, I found out that even with this motor controller turned off completely, you still get great speed. Proper motor control would be nice, but this was a cheap and easy way of simply matching a resistor to 12 volts. Well, resistors tend to get hot. After all, they resist the current. I'm surprised this isn't a recall and the…

A Necessary Evil with Replacement Parts

If your air conditioning/heating only runs at maximum settings, this may be the part you need. However, you can try to transplant this and attach it to the seat belts. * Why GM makes my life so miserable. If you order this you should get the included seat belt. although everything is broken and you will replace it again. Look it up on the internet, it's a POS. This and the wiring harness it plugs into don't match exactly which is causing the connections to loosen and it looks like things might…

Pros
  • Good Price

  • Low Reparability
