Description of Airaid AIR 200 996 M I T Modular Intake

Airaid continues to develop air intake systems without boundaries, always exploring beyond the horizon. Airaid’s first product was a filter that replaced restrictive factory components.

Pleasantly surprised

To be honest, I had no expectations before this purchase. I wasn't expecting much from a $140 part, but I was pleasantly surprised. I installed this on a 4.8 liter 07 GMC Sierra 1500 (NBS). The impact on normal driving conditions is minimal, although my engine makes a nice raspy growl at 1500 rpm I've noticed an efficiency gain of about 0.3mpg. After about a week of regularly driving around town, I drove from Dallas to Houston to pick up a trailer full of heavy shop tools. Long-distance trips…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Useless features

It would be 5 stars if everything was there.

Recently purchased for my 2007 Escalade ESV. When I opened the box, I immediately noticed that there were no clips for the necessary cable ties. "OK heck. I can find some in the garage." Then I quickly look through the instructions and see that this kit requires a different PCV line and a 1/4 "NPT x 3/8" nipple to get the new PCV line and attach it to the new pipe. Even after rummaging through the package, none of it is in the box. So this article is essentially useless until I get to the parts

13 Silverado 5.3L. Wow!

First thoughts after completing the installation and a short test drive: 1. It's alive! In fact, there seems to be an increase in throttle response and even a slightly reduced growl in the engine noise.2. My installation took a little longer as the old vacuum inlet hose was removed. Mine had a clip holding it in place and it didn't "just come off" as they say. Of course, you can't stick your hand in it or anything other than a pickaxe to get at it. That's how I finally got him to break free. 3.

Reliable and excellent product

This is an excellent product. Robust construction, perfect fit. For my 2011 Chevrolet Suburban 5.3; Installation was easy, quick and clean. I was relieved to find that the insert for the factory "barb holder" (holds on the upper radiator hose as factory) is installed. All clamps, vent hose, cool stickers included. I'm a tricky DIYer, but the crate is on its way: 40 minutes. Perfomance? Surprisingly effective. Since 2011 I have tolerated slight fluctuations in "initial acceleration". It's…

Sounds good. Not sure how much altitude affects things

Love my Airaid. Sounds good. I'm not sure how much altitude affects things, but I live in Colorado (where there's less oxygen for a given volume of air) and I find the truck handles better in hills. I used to hear the resonator baffles kick in with the stock system and the torque drop and the truck seemed to get stuck at the same time; no longer! There also appears to be a 1.5mpg improvement in gas mileage (again, perhaps altitude is a factor). It's loud at full throttle though. If the increase

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Expensive

It fit perfectly and did not fall off as could be the case in several reviews. Just tighten all the clamps well and check again after a week. Very pleasant sound straight from the intake pipe. The intake air temperature is about 5 degrees warmer than factory when sitting for a long time and idling, but is the same or slightly cooler than factory when driving. That's one of the reasons why I chose this intake pipe and not a warm air intake. And additional filtering of the factory paper filter. I
