Smooth and durable.

I prefer hot pressed watercolor paper because its texture is much smoother and doesn't get in the way. It also retains its structure much better than with cold pressing, even with moderate brushing.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Negative is provided

Love Arches paper is best in art paper

I really enjoy using the block. However, you have to be careful not to overload it with water. Better than sticking paper to a board. I usually play around with tape, putting it on and taking it off and trying to reuse it to make it easier to just start painting. A trifle for a clumsy, but every ease makes drawing more fun.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Only available in black

Must be. suitable for drawing, painting and art supplies

If this is your first time getting serious about watercolor paints, this paper should be hot and cold pressed next. It resists doodling and light erasing (use an eraser to erase the size), it's of a high standard, it takes layers of paint well and will give your piece either a slightly washed out finish or deep and vibrant colours. . It's just good paper, you're done.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • For old people

Top quality watercolor block!

I'm happy every time I get points for an Arches watercolor pad. In my opinion these are the highest quality watercolor blocks. I like this size especially for travel. I can take it with me in my travel bag and pursue my hobby anywhere. I like this hot pressed version as I make ink drawings colored with watercolors. I don't have to wet the paper and tape it, the pad keeps the paper in perfect shape even when wet.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Sad Packaging

The best paper for drawing!

Arches. "Little is said. Very few brands outperform this watercolor paper. It is also one of the (if not the best) drawing paper for pencil and charcoal, which is why I buy this paper. Stonehenge is the only paper I've used that even comes close to a domed hot press. The only thing I don't like about these blocks is their non-standard sizes. Maybe someone can explain it to me. Maybe it's just an American thing. I would like a similar product in standard sizes like 8x10, 11x14 etc.

Pros
  • Crafts and Sewing
Cons
  • Discontinued

Next level quality!

In my opinion you won't find anything better for what I do than these Arches watercolor blocks which are mostly lined and blurred urban and rural sketches. If you haven't tried it yet and are interested in this style or any other, I highly recommend it. It's a real treat that's hard to explain, and the best way to experience it is to experience it for yourself. I notice the biggest difference in the feel when your pen actually makes contact with the paper, as well as its relationship with the…

I don't like hot pressing

Yes, it's my fault I bought the wrong material. I prefer the level of control that comes with cold-pressed paper. And to be honest, my favorites to paint on are the inexpensive Strathmore 105-210-1 Watercolor Cards, Cold Print, 5" x 6.875", 50 Envelopes, Postcards and Envelopes and Strathmore 400 Series Visual Watercolor Journal, 140 lb 5.5 " x 8 in., Cold Press. , Wire bound, 22 sheets over one of the overpriced sheetfed block watercolors. I started with Arches at the very beginning and have…
