It does the job! in holders

I bought this to hold my iPad 2 so I can use it to navigate my car. The mount that bolts to the passenger seat is very rigid, so the iPad is held very securely. Also, the mounting mechanism is spring-loaded from below, so you insert your tablet by pressing it against the two bottom brackets while pushing back on the top of the tablet. The springs loosen a bit and the tablet snaps into place. The device can wobble a bit in the holder if you hit a hard bump in the ground. If you drive very bumpy…

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • No automatic

Great addition to my BMW

I have paired this with the Kensington SecureBack security case and lock for iPad 4 with Retina display, iPad 3 and iPad 2 (K67751AM) and couldn't be happier. My BMW didn't have an iDrive system so I figured an old iPad 3 would be a good permanent fixture. After realizing that my passenger seat was difficult to detach, I screwed this thing right into the center console (not recommended without knowing what's underneath). I'm lucky and he's holding on. My ONLY complaint would be that it wobbles…

Good job for mounts

Bought to hold my Samsung 10.1 tablet which I used as a GPS navigator while tracking this year's eclipse. Installed on Toyota Rav4 2013. I was a little worried when I ordered that the height would be too short, but it turned out to be perfect for what I need it for. Really felt perfectly placed for easy operation while driving. YES, it wobbles a bit. Maybe 1/4-1/2 inch wobble either way on rough roads. I've never found that bothersome on a 10.1-inch tablet on a 5,000-mile trip, but if that…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Legacy model

How to fix the spring problem

The spring slippage problem (holder appears to have a 'broken' spring) that others have mentioned is really poor engineering. The good news is that this is pretty easy to fix if you can use a screwdriver. The main issue is that the post that holds the spring inside the tablet holder has a very slight incline. So if the spring is stretched for a larger tablet (or a 7 inch tablet held by the sides in landscape mode) it will slip off. smooth plastic pin A small notch in the pin prevents the spring

That's what you make of it

First, I read almost all the reviews about it here. Secondly, this is my first Arkon product so I am not biased towards the company. This desktop mount is very easy to install and there are many mounting options to choose from. There's a floor mounting plate if you want a 'tougher' mount that only takes a few seconds (and a screwdriver) to swap out. I decided to just loosen the saddle rail bolt, put it in place and tighten it. Nice and cozy and there is no wiggle room. The "flex" lever was…
