Limited but delivers what it promises

Has served its purpose. In many ways, this was a downgrade from previous Dell docking stations. My main complaints are the lack of power from the docking station to the laptop and the limited number of USB ports. However, it works well and is much smaller than the previous docking station.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Very expensive

Works fine if you can get a working one

I've ordered several of these for clients and they're definitely mixed. When they work well, they're great. If you get a bad one, you're going to be in serious trouble. We had problems with video inputs and outputs, random monitor shutdowns, and various other issues. No firmware updates or system changes will fix the problem. In this particular case, replacing the docking station was the only solution to the problem.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • I don't remember

Well, while it lasted, died after 6 months.

Worked great when working. Stopped working 6 months after purchase. Windows no longer recognizes it as a USB device. Uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, etc. will not cause the device to show up on the PC. Tried different USB ports with no success, moved items from this device to the same USB ports that weren't working for it, and all devices came to life. Like I said, it worked great for a short time. Not worth the money in the end while serving. I recommend buying a USB display if you need

A simple setup works great.

Needed a good docking station for my Dell 5000 series laptop, worked great. I connected my monitor to my computer and the internet and just plugged in a USB 3.0 connection to my laptop and it works great. I have full-fledged stationary internet, and my monitor can be used as a secondary monitor or as the main monitor with the laptop closed. All I had to do was walk in and tell my DELL laptop that I needed a dual monitor setup. It was easy to use and set up was easy and I mean anyone can do it…

I'm happy with that.

I recently bought a couple of Dell 7480 laptops with Windows 10 and they're the norm now that Dell has dropped the standard dock that you stand your laptop on and plug it into. Now it connects directly to a port on your PC. Quite easy. At the moment I use a PC with two open monitors and a laptop display and use them separately (extended desktop mode). I had to update after installing the driver from the included USB stick they gave you and the screen flickered a few times and then started…

Much better than expected, it is now a must-have desktop accessory.

I bought it almost expecting it would hurt and sent it back. I'm happy to report that it actually works very well. I run 2x 24" 1920x1200 monitors, ethernet, sound, keyboard and mouse through this dock. It was a bit strange at first, but after updating to the latest drivers and firmware, it's much better. Sometimes a Windows update fixes it reset, but usually a simple disconnect and reconnect fixes any problem. I wouldn't try to game over it. You *can*, but the video quality is greatly reduced…

Pros
  • Hands-free work
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

So if you're good at it

I'm having a hard time getting this to work. My husband works in IT and doesn't find the setup user friendly. He said if he had more time he would take the time to find out. So if you're not good at it, brace yourself for a potentially tricky setup. I read user reviews from people who watched it to understand more but it doesn't follow the instructions after purchasing the plugin. As it's sold by Revain, you can't get setup troubleshooting help. It's a minor thing, but the price is about $16…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • There are errors

Easy setup, reliable.

This is for 2017 Dell XPS-13. I wanted to use USB C; one connection for everything, including charging. However, the third-party docking station I originally purchased for this purpose did not work well with my monitor. Neither HDMI nor DisplayPort worked so it was brought back. It turns out this isn't an uncommon problem, and I recently read an article on a tech site asking if USB-C really does what it says on the tin. Sigh. This dock works well, the only trade-off is that I have to connect to

Good docking station for Dell laptops and monitors

Just to be clear, I have the USB-C version of this dock. I usually look for a higher buyer rating before buying, but in this case I looked at the negative comments and decided that what others don't like doesn't apply to me. except for a moment. In my case, I have a newer monitor with an HDMI connector and an older monitor with a VGA or DVI connector, so this seemed to fit my needs. What attracted me was the ability to both power and turn on the laptop (in this case the new Dell Inspiron 7000…
