Square head for measuring and marking tools

Bought this to replace my Speed Squares. It turns out that this little tool is easier to use. Combines the properties of a square and a short ruler. Many of the walls I tile are in older buildings and aren't perfectly flat. Mark the difference between the bottom and top tiles on the ruler. I can use the marker on the ruler and it will be erased when I'm done. Keep it in my tool bucket for every job.

Pros
  • Hardened square head for precision
Cons
  • Line is shorter than other picks

Not what is listed in the description

I have an old steel combination square but I wanted to improve the accuracy. The ruler part is better than my old speed in terms of metric and traditional numbering. What disappointed me is that it is not etched as the description says so I bought the instrument. It also has a scratch that could be confused with gradation. My observation is that turning this blade back and forth wears down the workpiece.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • so far so good

It's not really square

It looks well made. I used it happily for a project until I found a trivial way to test it for true "perpendicularity". I held it flush with the 2x8 page and drew a line. I then flipped it over (rotated 180 degrees), held it flush again, and drew another line over the first. The lines were noticeably tilted and deviated by 1/16" from 8", meaning this square is actually 90.4476 degrees, not 90.0. (I repeated the same test on the same board with a different speed square and the lines overlapped…

Pros
  • Pleasing
Cons
  • Obsolete

Probably the best of the cheap combo squares.

First, there aren't any really good combinations under $100, but this one isn't that bad. I've looked at many of them. They have the plastic ones, it's a joke, cut with machining marks, and then a little bit better, like these. Says it's made in the USA so that means something. Oddly enough, it's blue. . The picture is black, I've had others in black, I saw yellow once, and this one is blue. No big deal, but it looks weird. maybe i like it You won't confuse it with StarrettNext, you can feel…

Pros
  • Excellent Overall
Cons
  • Doubtful
