Ideal for small tanks

This is the third substrate cleaner I have bought for my 20 gallon tank. The first piece of Top Fin litter (PetSmart) fell apart completely within a few months. The second (Zacro) is huge (great for tanks over 50 gallons). The 15" Fluval EDGE Gravel Cleaner is perfect for small aquariums and the sloping edge allows you to vacuum around decorations and into hard-to-reach corners that would otherwise be missed. A low flow rate may require patience but allows time to settle into the aquarium to…

good vacuum cleaner for small aquarium

I bought the Fluval Edge Gravel Cleaner to clean my Fluval View tank. The hose diameter is small enough that you have time to empty a small tank like mine without worrying about dumping too much water. The two included vacuum attachments work great, one for cleaning corners and the other for deep cleaning of the subfloor. Inside the vacuum cleaner is a protective cover that prevents pulling out too much gravel or substrate. The only downside for me is that due to the placement, the hose will…

Ideal for small pools!

Just what I need for my 13 gallon Aqueon widescreen aquarium. Currently setting up this cymbal as a nano riff and used this siphon for the first time yesterday and it worked great. It tarnished slightly, the suction power is sufficient and does not clog. I was able to get in small gaps without disturbing the coral and they got in really well. I didn't have any problems with the ground either (sand in my case). It has never clogged, nor have I dug it deep underground like crazy, the hose is…

I use this to clean a five gallon tank. It took me years to get it working when I first used it, but now that I know how it works I'm very happy with it! You just have to pump it up and down for longer than you think, even when it's completely filled with water. But once you get started, it seems to work well. It looks like it sucks all the abominations out of the gravel. It's good that it's this long because I don't have to be afraid to put my hands in the tank. I've read stories about water…

Makes tank cleaning easier

When I first got my aquarium it was a 10 gallon tank that my mom cleaned every 3-4 months. After dabbling in the hobby a bit, I found that all this work wasn't necessary, I just needed to remove about 25% of the water and vacuum the debris from the gravel. At the time I didn't have an easy way to do the latter, so I started looking online. I came across this article and gave it a try. All in all, this thing is amazing. I have FOUR tanks that I clean with Fluval EDGE: a 3 gallon spout, a 10…

Good design/uncomfortable to use

The brand and design of this substrate cleaner was the reason for my choice. Now that I've tried using it, I wish I had bought a gravel cleaner with an easier to use pump. I have a hard time filling the hose with water, partly because the hose is long and my 5 gallon Fluval tank is small. I had to watch a few YouTube videos to figure out how to use the gravel cleaner because the instructions weren't entirely clear to a novice fish breeder. The durability of the product seems to be very good…
