Free Open Source alternative and SQL client

I like that it's open source, so you can customize your own version of MySQL for use in an enterprise environment without paying licensing fees to Oracle or another vendor who may not be as interested about providing support beyond what they charge per year (or more). Good option especially suitable during dev stage

It's easy to use, it has very good performance in terms of speed for queries that I need, and its free! The only downside about this product would be if you have multiple users sharing one machine (e.g., web server) or even more than 1 user using same computer at once. If your app needs lots of concurrent connections with DBs like MySQL/Postgresql then go ahead and give hsqldb another try since they support connection pooling which will help tremendously when compared against other products…

Pros
  • Open source code available under Apache 2 license so anyone can contribute back changes easily.
  • Documentation is complete but not overwhelming yet still manageable though :).There isn't much information online besides Oracle docs themselves..it doesnΒ΄t seem too popular right now.I haven’ t really found any resources elsewhere either except some blog posts written by their staff members here &there around various parts related especially those relevant towards Java development aspects.
Cons
  • Mostly okay, but...
