Wow. New favourite.

This book appeared much earlier than it was delivered. I'm so happy with it, I really love tying stumps and such, but I have another macrame book besides this one. This one might be my favourite. It has many small patterns, some of which I have never seen before. Love it! And it came with no damage, just brand new. I would definitely recommend this book to beginner and intermediate macrame artists.

Only 4 stars because.

For the most part I really like this book. Shows exactly, step by step, how to tie each knot. Very easy to follow! The book didn't get 5 stars because I'm very disappointed that there are several pages with natural colored cords on a big background and I can hardly see what the knots look like. The photos seem to show the knots much better than they really are, looking at these pages really strains my eyes. All in all I would buy it again!

Great knot resource

I'm new to macrame (aside from making a million friendship bracelets in the 80's) so I was worried this book wouldn't be new enough for me. It's pretty good though! Lots of beautiful patterns and information about macrame. However, I didn't like some of the photos. While the overall look of the book is nice and cohesive, the background patterns are MUCH revised. I have a really hard time seeing some of the examples when they're set against a tiny floral print! It's a shame because the book is…

Fantastic book! good for crafts, hobbies and household

I used to know how to make macrame, but I needed a book to refresh my knowledge and also some ideas for current patterns. I bought this book and it is by far the best manual I have seen. The pictures are great and the illustrations are very clear. I didn't realize it when I bought it, but it was originally written by the Japan Macrame Association in 2011 and then translated and published by St Martin's Press. In addition to instructions for 70 knots with probes, there are many patterns for…

Unhelpful layout but great instructions.

Having minimal experience with knotting (remember old school friendship bracelets) I wanted a book with very clear instructions. It's that book. The layout of the book struck me as odd. If you can't remember all the characters you used for each knot, switch back and forth between the front of the book and the pattern you're working on. Some of the examples in the book have been shown against colored backgrounds, making it less than ideal if you're trying to study the details. Photos of…

So much technology! Perfect for those who haven't crafted in years!

I bought this book as a gift for my mom who recently mentioned macrame. She rarely shops online, so she shopped for books in retail stores - to no avail. Given that she did macrame many years ago, I figured it would be best to find a retraining guide that combined both beginner and advanced techniques. I read the reviews and decided to buy this book and another to help her get started with crafting. Note: I'm not very good at macrame, but I know sewing and different types of needlework. When I…
