Part of the idea is that I can leave my laptop on my desk and plug in a single cable to get peripherals, power, an external display, a dedicated Ethernet connection, and in this case, extra graphics power. I bought this eGPU for my XPS 15 and it has an RX 580 in it. Works great with my 2017 MacBook Pro 15 with High Sierra. I love the extra USB ports and Ethernet port this eGPU offers. Very durable construction with excellent material color matched to my MacBook Space Gray. I love the fact that this eGPU can charge my MacBook. I bought this eGPU model hoping for quiet operation: a supposedly quiet case fan and a PSU fan that only runs when needed. However, I was disappointed to immediately notice that the case fan, which always runs while you're using the computer (I have a 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro), isn't that quiet. 120mm 4pin PWM fan that fits perfectly so I thought the problem was solved right?!
