Why do I need DVD to DVD-R discs

I wanted to save my videotape to DVD before the VHS tape couldn't be played on my VHS player. These are special recordings I made on stage in 1990 that I want to keep for my family.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • No power

Worked for me! on blank media

I have an old Magnavox ZV427MG9 recorder. After trying 3 different types and speeds I still get the error code. After reading several blogs, most of them mentioned trying DVD-R as a last resort. I cannot tell you the joy I felt when I was finally able to record, transmit and make copies for sharing of my cherished moments with my long-dead family. Already ordered :)

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • The list will be long.

not sure if these DVDs are truly archival

I have ordered 15 packs of Maxell 638006 DVD-Rs to be used for archiving with a life expectancy of 100 years. I received 15 boxes of Maxell DVD-Rs that have no model number on the box, no information on the label that they are archival, and no indication of a 100 year lifespan. The package also does not match the package shown on the sales page.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Waste of time: Blank media

I returned a defective product and Revain offered me a choice of several products. I chose Maxell 638006 DVD-R discs. I am currently trying to rip videocassettes to DVD and had no problems until I started using Maxell. What a waste of time and so annoying. They seemed to work, and then it said "Defective Disc" in the middle of the entry. Now I have a bunch of broken discs and a lot more work to complete my project. I had to return my money. Now I have to order more, and I hope that they are not

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Damaged

4/15 worked! A way to destroy your Maxell brand!

I would give this negative 5 stars if I could. The first drive failed, so I tried again and had two other DVD drives backed up on different computers at the same time to save time. I've never been so disappointed with DVD backups! At least 4 out of 15 worked. I received the product with a new sticker that says 100 year archival life over the original barcode. But that's nowhere else on the packaging. For $5.99, not worth my time and effort arguing with them. Don't buy this. And I will neverโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • boring packaging

Very reliable backup media

I've been using these drives for over 10 years to back up my files, from family videos to my work/home archives. They have proven to be very reliable. Although I come across some drives that "lose" data from other manufacturers from time to time, I've never had unreadable Maxell drives. new Blu-ray players to play. As convenient as cloud storage is, there's no EASIER way for them to look at the label on a DVD and find what they want to watch. As USB drive prices fall, many people use USB drives

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Minor issues

A must for some DVD recorders

I have been burning DVDs to Panasonic DVD-R for many years. One day my Magnavox recorder didn't recognize the discs. I tried different ones to see if maybe the drive was bad but to no avail. I figured my recorder must be bad because I've had it for years. I found one on Craigslist and bought it. It is used but has been used very little. It was exactly the same as my other one but under a different brand from Funai. I put in a Panasonic disc and it wasn't recognized either. Luckily there wereโ€ฆ

Maxell always delivers the highest quality products.

. Although I have used other brands, I keep going back to Maxell. I recently ordered three packs of 50 DVD-Rs from Maxell and was hesitant to buy blank media from Revain (even as a longtime Prime member) after having had a bad experience after purchasing two defective packs of 100 DVDs from Verbatim . -R many years ago they worked as I expected and confirmed that the bad experience I had with the Verbatim brand many years ago does not reflect Revain in any way and I believe it was more of aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • . Testers give high marks for support and durability.
Cons
  • . Not as thick as other options.

Read the guide! suitable for accessories and consumables

After ten years of recording on my DVD burner, it suddenly stopped reading the Philips DVD-R discs I always used. I decided my voice recorder was dead completely, so I started looking for a replacement. Little did I know that the DVD recorder I bought years ago for $165 now costs about $400-$500 brand new if you can find it. I suspect it has something to do with copyright. I looked on Craigslist and found one new for $150. Different brand, exactly the same car. I had a Magnavox and itsโ€ฆ
