He does what he says he does

Until it broke and I took it on a plane and stuff. I put it in my guitar when I want to store it, but I usually hang my guitar on the wall and leave it underneath to let me know when the humidity gets out of hand.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • I won't say anything

does the trick! - Spare parts and accessories

This is the first hygrometer I own. Other reviews question its accuracy, but it helps me. I don't need exact readings, just need to know that my ukulele stays between 40-60%. In addition, there are temperature readings and informs you about highs and lows. I would recommend it!

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Not bad

I'm so glad I got them. Disaster Averted

I was unaware of the high humidity in my pantry. Thank god I got these. After installing spongy humidifiers and hygrometers on my Martin and Taylor guitars, I checked them out after about a week and noticed high humidity! I panicked and immediately removed the humidifiers.

Pros
  • Pleasure Delivered
Cons
  • Fading

Easy to read and accurate

I keep this in my ukulele's sound hole by the strings and enjoy knowing the humidity is neither too high nor too low. It is easy to use and very readable. An easily accessible (top) button changes the display from Fahrenheit to Celsius - useful for those of us who don't want to delve into the conversion math. ;)

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Almost never

Mandatory for wood tools

Can't say anything bad about it but I wish there was some sort of beep that goes off when the humidity drops below the threshold. Overall it's a well built product, easy to read/understand and the battery seems to last a while too. Be sure to get the supplied damp sponge and in a house with around 45-50% RH I need to refill it about once a month.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • No insurance

What I Needed in Humidity Meters

Keeping my expensive acoustic guitars from drying out or swelling from too much moisture has been a monitoring nightmare for me. I use an in-case hydrometer. What I need for one in the guitar. It was what I needed. To verify accuracy, I used calibrated Davis Instruments hydrometers. Yes, I have tested these hydrometers with two Davis weather stations. He said it was 8-10 numbers too little. My hydrometers in a guitar case showed between 27% and 29%. Putting this device in a guitar, he showed…

Pros
  • Brilliantly Done
Cons
  • Repair

The only other hygrometer I've ever had was an indoor hygrometer that sits on a shelf and gray and black and everything is fine. That was before low humidity recently forced me to mute one of my guitars, which is more vulnerable than the others. I wanted one to put in the sound hole, it was perfect for me, good quick reading, seems sensitive and accurate, there is a few percentage points difference with the others, sometimes they are the same or just a point difference , But most of all I love…

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • No paint required

It's good to know your moisture level.

I just bought a new Martin acoustic guitar and really want to make sure it's properly hydrated when not playing. The neck on my last acoustic guitar warped horribly because I didn't mute it to begin with which makes it unusable now, luckily I didn't pay for it to begin with. Now that I've invested in a starter tool, I decided it was time to get properly hydrated, so I bought hydration products (head and body moisturizer) but the problem was I didn't know what percentage in If so, I began to…

Quality control issues

This is my second HumiReader. The first one has been working fine since I received it in April. When I opened the box for it, however, I noticed that the buttons were swapped. The inverted min/max button works like an F/C button. Worse, the button gets stuck, so sometimes it doesn't toggle the temperature scale being used. I don't think I'll have a problem returning it because I don't have to change scales as often. The other button works fine, it's a function that shows more of the information

Pros
  • Parts and accessories
Cons
  • Some minor issues

Clever but unnecessary and potentially inaccurate

I have three hygrometers including this one. The other two hygrometers generally show readings closer together than this unit. Sometimes this block shows higher humidity than the other two, and sometimes it shows lower. I can't be sure which is correct, but since other readings are showing closer together and are more consistent, I suspect they are more accurate. This device can be used simultaneously with one of the manufacturer's outstanding guitar humidifiers. Second hand. Unfortunately…
