current dictaphone

Excellent dictaphone, a bit disappointed with the extra file recorded by the software as it is an error when sending over the internet. In general, a good digital voice recorder.

An annoying problem

This Olympus recorder has no beeps to warn you when pausing or recording. I often have to re-dictate information because the recorder was on pause. I relied on beeps to help me with my old recorder so I got used to it. This one claims to have an audible sound, but it doesn't. I even called Olympus to see if mine was defective but they said there is no such feature on this model.

Excellent material for dictation.

I have been recommending Olympus products to our customers for almost seven years. So far I have recommended different models. I recently recommended the Olympus DS-2400 recorder to a buyer and ordered it myself. Trust me, this is the greatest electronic thing I've ever used. insert or remove a fourth between them without affecting the rest. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a professional voice recorder. Ravi Chinnatambi [.]

Good digital transcription

I am a lawyer and I have to dictate a lot. I used to use much more expensive Olympus recorders but I tried this one and it works great! I record my dictation and then upload the files to typists over the internet. It works great. My only complaint is that the button functions on the side of the recorder aren't very intuitive compared to other recorders I've used, but I'm used to it. Also, the included software isn't very intuitive, but I figured it out. It has excellent recording quality. Ifโ€ฆ

Great for dictation

This is a great voice recorder for dictation. The button layout is perfect and the override and add features are just what you would expect. It made the transition from my favorite Lanier microcassette recorder to a digital recorder very easy. Initially, I was bothered by negative reviews that complained that the files were recorded in Olympus' proprietary DS2 format. They are, but the software that came with the voice recorder allows you to convert the file to a WAV file simply by selectingโ€ฆ

Big mistake with digital dictaphones

I purchased this recorder and accompanying transcription module because I could not find a cassette system with acceptable fidelity for my cardiology practice. At first the radio worked fine. The typist in my office was very happy and understood every word. However, after a few months, every time I try to download a dictation to my computer, I have to unload and reload the software for both the recorder and the transcription module. Sometimes twice! I do not recommend this product to anyoneโ€ฆ

Great for my needs

I have used a microcassette recorder as well as an older Olympus digital recorder for dictation and transcription in periodontics for the last 8 years. We were "forced" to push the technology for various reasons (transcription machine failure, poor sound quality, hiring of new microcassette machines). For me, the DS-2400 was intuitive, allowed multiple folders (so we could save different types of cases and loaded them into separate folders on our computer), had great sound quality, and wasโ€ฆ

Great features but unusable for me as the included software is buggy

I have been using Olympus recorders for a long time and the features this recorder offers are really impressive. See the Sperazza review for more details. Everything about the hardware seems great. However, in order to play the .DS2 files you create on this device, you need Olympus' proprietary software, which you get ONLY on the CD that came with the device (you can't download it from their website - website won). I won't even give you the latest version number). I installed the software on my
