Great little voice recorder

This little man is SMALL, especially when you remove the detachable stereo microphone from the top (it has a nice monaural built in). I've used it to record lectures at school and meetings at work, and it worked great on both occasions. The sound quality is MUCH better than anything else for simple voice recording, but I wouldn't recommend it for serious recording of music or other dynamic sounds (bought an Olympus LS-11 for this). Features like a low-pass filter and special recording options…

Decent recorder, best portable audio and video recorder

Purpose of purchase was for my son's violin lessons. He is 11 years old and often forgets the important points of the teacher. A bit pricey but worth the money. I've been using it for about two months now and I love it. The sound recording quality is quite good. I can easily hear what the teacher said 10 feet away while my son's violin playing is crystal clear about 5 feet away. However, it cannot be used for a serious musician. The voice recorder is easy to use. The menu is easy to understand…

Great for music rehearsals

I bought an Olympus DS-50 digital voice recorder to record my music rehearsals. That works great. You can hear your voice recorder through the built-in speaker. You can connect the device directly to your computer and record songs from your computer in real time. You can download files from the voice recorder to your computer. You can transfer files from your computer to your iPod. I don't know if ANTonline (via Revain) still offers it, but I received a 'package' with a remote record switch in…

Great product - user reviews for a long time

First of all I have to say that this is a great product, especially for people with visual impairments. My husband has been using it daily for several years. Pros: Five folders of files for quick access to the most commonly used data sources. Easy navigation with touch and LCD screen is a plus. ideal for visually impaired or blind users. Excellent sound quality for clear recordings. Long battery life, especially when battery saver turns off by itself. Easy to download to a computer or vice…

Recording quality Note

The manual does not mention the most important quality difference between STXQ and STHQ recording. STXQ results in WMA recording at 128 kbps. STHQ results in WMA recording at 64 kbps. Both modes: 44.1kHz 16 The bottom line is that if you're recording music or otherwise want the highest quality, you should record in STXQ mode. outperforms the supplied ME53SA. This is a fantastic recorder. But it's not the best recorder for musicians. See for example the Zoom H4 or the Olympus LS-10 line PCM…
