Drop a dime and buy twenty

Lots of reviews online comparing 10 to 20 or 30. Feel free to buy this stylus if you are considering an upgrade. I went from 5 to 10 which was a small positive change in sound. From 10 to 20 is a big change and you can hear each instrument in great detail.

Great pen! in electronic music, DJing and karaoke

I replaced the 5 OM on my Project Debut Carbon turntable with these 20 and what a difference! When listening to music with headphones, I actually hear the dynamic change. I consider this to be the highest quality pen that will work with my arm, however I am very happy with the quality of this product.

20 for $200, Alex - turntable cartridge

I upgraded my Ortofon 5e pen to an Ortofon 20. The moment I pressed the BUY button, I felt regret. What I did? $200 for a turntable needle? Truth? For real. This pen is cool. And rolls. My Pro-Ject player has never sounded so good. There is dead silence between passages and the music just sparkles. My regrets are gone, replaced with pure joy. if you can do it You won't look back

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Almost never

Great turntable stylus

I bought a Pro-ject T1 with Ortofon OM5e and upgraded to OM20. It's worth it. Everything about it sounds better; Separation, bass, treble, mids, vocals, horns, strings, whatever. I've never been very happy with the Om5e's sound, that's fine, don't get me wrong, but if you listen to vinyl you're probably looking for the best sound (you can afford). It's expensive, but it's not really crazy in the general cartridge/pen scheme. In my opinion it's worth it.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Why didn't I do this earlier?

I have had many inexpensive cartridges over the years including the OM 3E and OM 10. Many of my records had the following known problem; the tracks in the middle of the record sound compressed and distorted. Yes, I tried tinkering with the tracking but didn't solve the problem. When I found out that I could just replace my old Ortofon's stylus with the OM20, I decided to give it a try, and good. THIS IS FIXED! ALL my records sound great, even near the middle. THANK YOU ORTOPHONE!

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Great highs with no harsh sibilance

Well I was hoping to hear a night and day difference compared to my om10 pen. Instead, I hear subtle differences. Differences that make listening more musical and enjoyable. The two cartridges I have used over the last few years are Super om10 and Audio Technica VM 540ml. I would swap between these two cartridges, but now that I have an om20 stylus it will be the carriage and stylus combo on my tonearm from now on. Don't get me wrong, the Audio Technica is one hell of a cartridge and you can't…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • There are downsides

It's as good as the sound it makes

All reviews about the sound are true. Here's my story: I have an old linear tracking turntable and a P-mount OM 10 cartilage that's almost 40 years old. About 2 years ago I decided to go back to vinyl and put the OM on one of my used line tracking turntables that I bought for £50 each. For other line tracing I have a Grado P mount. My original SL-7 was beyond repair so I found 2 spares just in case they don't work. Okay, they might not be as good as the SL-7 but they still work well. I replaced

Pros
  • Electronic Music, DJ & Karaoke
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
