I bought this book because I needed more stitch patterns for some embroidery quilt patterns I made as gifts. In this book, more patterns were clearly presented (thanks to Maggie Lane) and the story behind the patterns was interesting. Buy it for a variety of stitch patterns, neat and organized. Enjoy history and inspiration.

This is one of the finest embroidery books ever printed. The patterns are clear enough for even the most basic sewer to follow, and the many stitches open up new possibilities for even the most experienced embroiderer. The photographs included in the book are stunning examples of what needlework can be when an embroiderer decides to forego kits and basket weaving.

I've only had a chance to review this but I like what I saw. This book is the size of a textbook, which surprised me. It has many inspirational ideas. Shows great detail on how stitches are made and the finished product, as well as colored plates with examples. It's like a kid in a candy store. I can't wait to dig deeper. Definitely a good reference for any seamstress! Considering the age, I got a very good used example at a very good price. I am very happy with my purchase!
