Just received the device. Made a few calls, call quality is excellent! Camera tracking is okay, but not very good (tracking not fast enough or gets pixelated for a few seconds). Worst of all is anything else which is a bummer as the unit is very expensive so I planned on using it as a replacement for my Revain Echo. My Portal Plus is better than I expected for device version 1: the video tracking function can follow me around the kitchen and keep me in the picture, and the touchscreen is fast. The YouTube support that was added just a day or two ago really improved the user experience until more third party apps became available.

video call not working. The other person cannot see the video of my face. The same person can see the video of my face if I use Facebook Messenger on iPhone instead of Portal. Absolutely amazing video calling experience. My parents rarely use Facebook, but thanks to this product, they can automatically view the latest photos posted on Facebook on the device. Think of all those electronic picture frames that become useless and boring because they keep showing the same thing, and imagine how much better they can be when showing new photos instead. The hardware is definitely top notch and I look forward to seeing software improvements to the product.

People can't call me, I can call them but not the other way around. Spotify won't download most of my playlists. Alexa (although I knew it was only voice capabilities) is more limited than the Echo Dot, it does almost nothing, even alarms don't ring when the screen is off. It's basically a $200/$350 device (unfortunately I have both) that only calls people from instant messengers one-way.

It is not possible to call a computer without first installing Messenger, unlike the current method where this is easily possible. Even after installation, they continue to receive calls on their phone, not on the computer. I bought it for my husband as a gift from his father. He was very confused when he opened it and kinda pooped. I unpacked it, set it up, logged into FB (my account of course since it's NOT a social media account), connected Alexa and Spotify.
