Great but bulky for amps

Let me start by saying this could fit in a 2003 Miata, I did it on May 28th. So this thing is bulky so I'm deducting a star. But that was used because I have Bose speakers and it was necessary. That works great! I took my time putting everything together, I didn't lose a single screw and I was careful with everything. If I could do it again I would use extension cords due to the space I wouldn't have to work in enough, but that's not a device fault.

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • Minor glitches

Does what it's supposed to do

Used this to hook up a second stereo to a factory Bose amp in my 2002 Mazda Miata. The installation instructions were very simple. The box itself is larger than I expected, and I wonder if that's because the device has multiple built-in features. It wasn't easy finding a place for her in the Miata, but I found a place. between radio and glove box. I had to extend the wires on either side so I could tuck them away and still have enough slack to get the stereo in place.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Solved my problem perfectly!

I installed a factory amped stereo in my 1998 Mercedes SL500. After connecting the speaker wires from the radio to the vehicle wiring harness, the lowest volume setting was too loud. So I connected the speakers to the RCA line jacks instead and the volume was very low (the line outs were only 2 amps). I searched the internet for help then went to two radio installation shops and no one knew what to do. After a little more research on the web, I found out that this lineout converter was…

  • Some cons

works well in line out configuration but the screw connections are not very secure for the thin wire coming out of my Mini Cooper's standard radio. I had to remove and reconnect a few wires after they lost connection in very hot/cold conditions. Make sure you have a screwdriver that is not too small. You want one that is exactly the size of the screw head so you can tighten it securely without slipping out since the screw heads are tiny and the metal is quite soft. someone mentioned not to…

I was trying to replace the radio in a C4 Corvette with a Bose Gold sound system . This system sends low level RCA signals to each of the powered speakers. The problem with cheap head units (I've used Hipzo) is that they pick up a lot of engine and computer noise in the low-level signal. So the RCA outputs are useless as there is a lot of noise coming from inside the radio from these connections. So you use SL4 to connect to a full powered speaker output (it also has transformers for ground…

  • So far so good

Poor quality part suitable for automotive electronics

The main problem with this unit is the gain control. They are very thin and prone to breakage. Everything sounded very clean the first time I hooked everything up but then I tried to adjust it and one of the potentiometers wouldn't move and the other broke leaving one speaker quiet, one practically off and the other two had a good volume. Also, you can see in my picture that I had a bug with the output channels. The picture shows FR-FL-RR-RL, with red for the right channel and white for the…

Remember. This is a PASSIVE device

Don't be fooled by the GAIN settings on this device. This device is just a passive line level converter. Lab results: My main unit's speaker outputs are rated at 30W x 4 RMS at 14.4 VDC. the outputs of a Scosche device with a 1 kHz fixed amplitude tone generator as the input to the main unit. For testing I used the Scosche "Line Out" mode switch. The GAIN setting was set to maximum for all 4 channels of the Scosche device. I set the head unit volume to the reference level and started measuring.

  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not bad
