Perfect record; Smelly

After having problems with similar Verbatim drives repeatedly failing with every drive I tried, I switched to these drives, which were about half the price and none of the from drives I was using failed. I hope they stand the test of time and read correctly years later, but at least they write correctly. They have a REALLY strong smell! But over time, under the influence of air, it disappears. UPDATE OCTOBER 10, 2020: I used up the first 50 discs and got another batch. I think I had 2-3 errorsโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Minor issues

Will NOT play on some DVD players.

Please note that dual layer discs WILL NOT PLAY on an older DVD player. They played fine on my computer but not on my DVD player. However, they play on my neighbors. Please check the compatibility of the players before purchasing dual layer discs. Otherwise, they won't serve your purpose when you play them on your VCR.

Pros
  • Acceptable

  • I don't really like it, everything is fine

Budget Dual Layer Blank DVDs

These discs work great. So far I've bought 2 DVD sets out of 50 and haven't had a single badly burned DVD. I would recommend them to everyone. My only issue is the lack of resources in the software to get the labels working. It would be fun to paint or have some design work on the projects I do, but a plain sharpie works great, just not as decorative as the trim. They are great for burning DVD, Movie, MP3, MP4, WAV, AVI, etc. Everything works fine.

100% Failure Rate - DVD+R Discs

I made a dual layer DVD and thought it might be worth trying these cheap discs at half speed to be on the safe side. After about 12 tries, I couldn't burn through a few percent, assuming it even started: that's 100% failure. I have never recorded coasters on any other media, DVD or Blu-ray. For example, I could burn random files for backup, but I didn't buy them for backup: I need a double layer for long DVD programs. I switched to premium DL DVD media without really being surprised at what Iโ€ฆ

Smartbuy Two-layer blanks

14 blanks used so far. Out of the 14, 12 were recorded perfectly and played on my Blu-Ray player. But I can't say they play normally on another player or DVD player. The two that didn't burn properly were caused by my computer doing something that caused it to burn badly. This was due to my old Windows 7 computer and its slow response while sometimes having a task running in the background while recording. If someone has a computer as slow as mine, you should make sure that all tasks running in

Works most of the time

These work great if you have a computer fast enough to burn DVDs. The best way to get good results is to not use other programs that slow down the burning process. I still have about 1 out of 7 not working properly. Just leave the computer alone and do not use it for other purposes, as failures can lead to an error. With them, errors usually occur towards the end of the burning process, since some films are deleted from the system, but the DVD player crashes when playing towards the end of theโ€ฆ

6 out of 10 drives did not work.

Very disappointed. I tried using 10 drives but found that six of them were bad and wouldn't accept data. 2 of those six actually "froze" my DVD copier and only required a reboot to eject the corrupted disc. I bought a set of 50 discs. If this percentage of "bad" disks persists. . . this equates to 60% wasted disk speed. Not a reliable product.

An excellent quality disc at a very reasonable price.

To be honest, I had my doubts about the unnamed brand disc. But like some of the other reviews I was willing to give up the previous manufacturer since they raised the prices so high. And it helped that Smart Buy had a pretty good rating. With my previous brand I had 10 final DVDs left and started getting bad records. About every 4th hard drive has failed. What was discouraging. Of course I ran out of blanks and had to burn a few more discs. I updated my recorder's firmware (which only improved

Drives okay, housing bad

Drives okay, I used one out of 7 times. However, what annoys me the most is that the packaging is terrible. The bottom bracket was completely broken as it was cheap and weaker plastic than the disc itself. The upper shell is also completely torn. I thought about returning the thing but decided to take a look and the discs aren't scratched so I avoided the process.

Pros
  • Not only usable for the intended purpose
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
