Why it’s good to be dim

This Lutron MSCL-OP153M motion sensor dimmer costs more than others, but if you are sensitive about your home environment, it may well be worth it to you. I have installed 3 of these in my home during the past few years, and am very pleased with them. I was on the verge of purchasing a fourth switch when amazon offered me a free one as part of the vine program, in exchange for writing a review - an offer I just couldn’t resist. If your light switch is in a favorable location, you can replace it…

Cons
  • Motion sensor feature may cause false triggers

Outstanding. for my opinion

Very capable motion sensing dimmer switch, with a craftsmanship that reflects well on the Lutron brand. The instructions are clear and there is more in-depth documentation to be found online -- search for 048480a.pdf on Lutron site as someone else pointed out, or simply Google it. The product also has one of the highest levels of customization I have ever seen in a motion sensor switch. Lastly but not something to be glossed over, the switch makes absolutely no sound when it turns ON, which is…

Pros
  • nothing
Cons
  • Not compatible with all types of light fixtures

all other motion sensor switches come with the light sensor so that the switch can be programmed to stay off if the room is bright enough.with this it will always turn on even if the room is filled with the sun light. my work around is to minimize the brightness in such casesat night it would shut off if i am just watching tv though motion sensor is far more responsive than other brands; i hand wave is all u needsensor sensitivity can be set to high or low. if at high, it will turn on easily…

Pros
  • It works like a charm . You can use it as 3-way switch with moving sensor & dimming feature
Cons
  • May not work with all types of LED bulbs

More than what I expected

I was looking for some dimmer switches that would go with my new recessed lights. This brand was the one that was suggested for my new recessed lights. I saw that it said motion on these dimmers, but really didn't pay attention due to the price being so good for the 3 pack. Once my electrician installed these dimmers to work with my recessed lights, I was amazed at how well they worked. But also to my surprise, when we left out of the room after a good while, we saw the lights go off in that…

Pros
  • Works with most dimmable CFL/LED bulbs and incandescent/halogen bulbs (please see the Compatible Bulb List under Technical Specification below)
Cons
  • May cause buzzing or humming with some bulbs

Will your lights Buzz? Not if you get a debuzzing coil!

The beginning of the video is at the top of an LED downlight with the microphone near the fixture (hence, no video of the fixture). The end is near the working debuzzing coil (which has taken on the volume the LED fixtures were initially putting out with the dimmer switch inline- the debuzzing coil shouldn't be exposed like this and should be wired into a suitable junction box).I was really upset when I installed a set of 10 SATCO LED downlights in our basement along with this switch- I was…

Work great, but expensive.

I've purchased 3 of these for rooms where I need occupancy AND dimmer features. These work excellent for single pole, single location use (for a few dollars more, there is another version available which can work with multiple switches controlling the same load). One of the switches was installed 5 years ago, and still works flawlessly, very impressive. They are also good looking, and very customizable. No clicking, they turn on silent. They also have an ambient light sensor, which can be…

Cons
  • May not be aesthetically pleasing to all users

I love these! Super convenient user configurable features.

Re: MSCL-OP153M sensor/dimmer. The VP153M version is vacancy/manual on only, no ability to set a dimmed default on level.Though multi location capable, I bought this to replace a single location switch in my kitchen, saves me from having to go the far end entry to turn the most frequently used 60watt equivalent LED light on/off. At 5 min timeout, it shuts off the light if I wander away, on again when I walk back in. Can be programmed to a default or last used brightness level, super…

Best 24/7 Customer Service❗❗

There 24/7 Customer service is great! They will walk you through anything in minutes, easily. There are amazing features found in the Advanced Instructions that they emailed me (a good read). I was able to customize via instructions on all but one feature. The set dimmer level for when it turns on.

Pros
  • ‎1 Pack
Cons
  • May be difficult to adjust the sensor's sensitivity levels

Very easy to install

No neutral required, can be 3 way. It has 5 programmable settings that are cake to configure and reconfigure if you want them adjusted.

Pros
  • For use in Single Pole, 3-Way, or Multi-Location applications
Cons
  • May require frequent calibration to work properly

Works as advertised

I wanted a switch that could control LED light bulbs. I have a laundry room where I wanted the light to go on automatically then shut off after leaving. In addition I can control the brightness. You can set the dimness to any level you want. You can control how long the light stays on once you leave the room. The default is 5 minutes which is much too long for me so I changed it to 1 minute. The choices are 1, 3, 5, 15, 30 minutes. The only drawback and why I did not rate this as a 5 were the…

Disappointed and Frustrated

8/14/19 - Update: Replaced the Lutron defective switch that was originally installed and described earlier. The new one is functioning well. it’s programmable and operational as advertised. Will be keeping an eye on it for a while and need to see if it loses programming settings after a power failure. It it performs well, will then purchase additional units.———-8/3/19 - I had always thought Lutron switches were of good quality and reliability. This switch is very disappointing. It is either a…
