6 month outage of computer accessories and peripherals

I have upgraded to a Sony A7r III and have been strongly advised to spend my money and buy this card as it is "best in class". Spring. After 6 months of moderate use in my primary photo slot, this memory card failed. Let's see if I can get a replacement but the fact that cheaper cards still work and this 'best in class' and 'reliable' memory card has failed is very disappointing. To be honest I'm nervous about this card. I don't shoot sports nor do a lot of videos, I'm a mainstream and…

Fast and expensive computer accessories and peripherals

This card is fast. Seems really fast and very reliable. I have it on my A7iii and have never had any issues with buffering or slow loading. The data transfer speed to my computers/iPads is faster than any of my other cards. I would recommend the "Tough" over the regular as it was only about $10 when you bought it. This map is not for everyone. If you have a camera that supports such UHS-II cards, great. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't even care. Plus, it's ridiculously expensive for an SD…

The card got stuck in Sony's own card reader on the first try.

I'm lucky because I just want to monitor it in the card reader to see the capacity or check all the files inside before I put it in my new Nikon D850. The card just got stuck there and thanks to Amazon for putting it together. I wonder what Sony engineers think of this since the card and reader are of the same brand. It is also the first SD card in the reader. Edit: After reading the review here I decided not to go back and try to snag it. I used a thin hard plastic and slipped it under the…

MANUFACTURER REVIEW

Sony very quietly recalled these cards this month (June 2020) due to issues with writing video to memory at high speed. So quiet that despite registering my product and subscribing to the newsletter, I was lucky enough to find out about it via the Youtube news page. No refund, partial coupon or apology from Sony, only 3-4 weeks to "replace" this high quality memory card. I was very happy with the durability of this card, but will be switching to SanDisk as Sony can't handle it. I bought it…

Fast and Thicc shines on memory cards

This card does not disappoint in terms of speed. Used in my A7rIII, it quickly clears the buffer and allows me to shoot those 42MP raw files without fear of buffering. However, I highly doubt that making this map "hard" is worth it. I don't know if I've ever felt the need to stand on an SD card or keep it in the freezer. In my experience, most SD cards are waterproof, so that's not a selling point for me, and while the read-only switch could theoretically break, I don't know anyone who has had…

Photographer's point of view

I consider myself an enthusiast/most passionate photographer. Gear is important to me, as are fast SD cards. This is a UHS-II SD card and Sony has taken steps to improve its design. They even called this card a ROBUST SD card. It seems to be more durable than "regular" SD cards. It looks less fragile. It has no ribs to break near the gold contacts. It also lacks a write-protect switch, which I never used. For me it will not be missing. In terms of speed, marketed speeds are up to 300MB/s…

Fits snugly on some SD card readers

Bought a 64GB Sony Tough Card with Satechi Type-C Aluminum UHS-II Micro/SD Card Reader Adapter. We tested Satechi first with a SanDisk Extreme Pro UHSI 95MB/s card, everything is fine (write speed is around 85MB/s). The card came off easily. Then tested with Tough Card, write speed is around 240MB/s on my Lenovo T480 laptop. The card wasn't removed - it stayed about 2/3 in and wouldn't budge. I am afraid as these cards are very expensive. After considering options including destroying Satecha…

Currently the only real choice for the pros

**Update*** Still using them. To be honest, I'm not sure why anyone would even consider buying any other type of SD card. Memory cards are almost a necessary evil for me. I only notice them when they don't work, and then I have a serious problem. I've had numerous SD cards fall apart over the years. I've tried sticking them together with tape, but that's always a risk. Since I make video and photography for a living, I really can't afford SD card errors. Sony Tough Cards are the most obvious…

Excellent SD card for professional, high-volume use

Honolulu-based publisher's in-house photographer. These are probably my favorite SD cards. The transfer speed is fast, there have never been any error messages or lost data. I bought my first one about 9 months ago, now I have 5 Tough cards for 64GB and 1 for 32GB. I use these cards in: Canon 5D3, Sony A7R III, Fuji XT3, Fuji GFX 50R, Fuji X-H1. These are the fastest SD cards I've ever tried. No I didn't time it so it's just a feel of the pants. But they are very fast. There are no issues with…
