Basswood is variety of Linden tree grown in the United States

This wood was labeled "made in China" and isn't as soft as true Basswood. I have good knives but had difficulty making stops in this and carving was harder than I expected.

Great variety some a little small.

For a beginner these blocks are perfect. They are well cut and have very few knots if any at all. My one concern is that some of the blocks are thin and as such make it hard for a new carver to make mistakes. the wood is soft and dry, its great for practice. Great wood

Great Gift for Whittler Kids

Bought this for my grandson's birthday.he has taken up whittling at the age of 6. Great product for little hands to create with.

Comes broken best in my review

Wooden box was broken, all other purchased items were fine though so this was broken before it was shipped. Bummer The product may not be cost-effective compared to larger or more durable carving blocks.
